Connecting with friends is going to get a lot easier for iPhone users now. Whatsapp Web finally supports Apple’s mobile operating system – iOS. This means that iPhone owners can now sync their accounts to Whatsapp Web and access it on their computers. Launched in January this year, Whatsapp Web initially supported Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry but now, it’s come to the Apple world as well.
Whatsapp introduced a browser version for all other smartphones, even including the likes of Nokia S40 and Nokia S60, but not iOS due to “Apple platform limitations”. Even now, this option has only been rolled out to a few iPhone users for beta testing; nonetheless, the full fledged launch is not far.
Once it’s available to everyone, this WhatsApp feature can be setup in the iOS app’s settings. Additionally, you can also visit web.whatsapp.com using Google Chrome. However, it must be noted that the chat service requires the latest version of the iOS app to function on the internet.
Don’t be surprised if you didn’t get any intimation about this new feature or a new version of the iOS app. Whatsapp systems appears to be notifying only select users across the globe with a server-side change per account without any prior App Store update. In fact, if it wasn’t for some users who reported the change on Reddit, we would have never known of this update till it was launched for all users.
