As we had expected, Apple announced the new Apple Watch software – watchOS 4 at the WWDC event held earlier in the day. While there are no radical changes in the software, there are enough incremental updates to get the current (and future) Apple Watch owners excited.
Here’s a rundown of all the new features of watchOS 4:
New Watch Faces
Apple kicked off the watchOS announcement by introducing new Watch faces. These aren’t just a cosmetic gimmicks; there are some pretty powerful additions in there:
Siri Watch Face
The new Siri watch face puts Siri in the forefront of your Apple Watch experience. It changes dynamically based on your daily activities. And of course, you can activate Siri with just one click.
Kaleidoscope & Toy Story Watch Faces
The trippy looking kaleidoscope watch face turns your images into intertwined patterns, while the Toy Story watch face brings new animated characters to your Apple Watch.
Music App Redesign
The Music app on the Apple Watch gets a must needed redesign. It looks more intuitive and has a single swipe easy access from the Workout app. Your playlists sync automatically. And yes, you can finally sync more than one playlists!
More Workouts
Apple has added a lot more exercise options, including sync with supported gym equipment. The UI has also been tweaked with improvements likes one-click start and quick switch between multiple workouts.
Activity Enhancements
The activity app is more personalised now with customised goals and rewards. There is plenty of encouragement additions like daily inspirations, evening push, and monthly challenges. You also get cool new celebrations upon accomplishing a task.
These are the noteworthy additions to the watch OS. I am sure there are much more minor tweaks that we’ll continue to discover in the lead up to the launch of watch OS 4 in fall this year.
