Apple released watchOS 3.2 and tvOS 10.2 yesterday along with iOS 10.3 and macOS 10.12.4. Both the updates feature only minor changes and most of the tweaks are under-the-hood. Here’s a look:
watchOS 3.2
How to update?
- First update your iPhone to iOS 10.3
- Charge your Apple Watch to minimum 50%, then connect it to your iPhone. Basically they must be within the range to each other.
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Go to General > Software Update > Download and Install.
What’s new?
- Theater Mode: turns on silent mode and keeps the Apple Watch screen dark, even if you raise your wrist. You have to tap the screen to wake it up.
- Siri: Apple’s virtual assistant can now integrate with third party apps. So you can finally use Siri to “start workouts, send messages, make payments, book rides, and more.”
tvOS 10.2
How to update?
- Launch the Settings app on your Apple TV.
- Go to System > Software Update > Download and Install.
What’s new?
- Navigation: Scrolling has been made easier. “Several large swipes” have been added to activate accelerated scrolling.
- iTunes: The new “rent once, watch anywhere” has been added to Apple TV as well. Lets you watch your movies and tv shows across all the devices irrespective of where you made the purchase.
Note: Your iPhone or iPad must be running iOS 10.3, and your Mac must be running macOS 10.12.4 to avail this service.
Like we said, there are no major changes. So coming to the question of should you upgrade — there’s no great functional utility you’ll get out of upgrading. However, it’s a good practice to keep your devices up-to-date on the lastest software to protect them from various kinds of risks.
So yeah, you should upgrade!
