Apple’s Co-Founder, Steve Wozniak Would “Wait And Watch” Before Buying iPhone X

Even as the entire world is going gaga over the iPhone X, Apple’s legendary coder Steve Wozniak is not all that eager to get his hands on the new handset.

I’d rather wait and watch that one. I’m happy with my iPhone 8 — which is the same as the iPhone 7, which is the same as the iPhone 6, to me,” Woz told CNBC. He further mentioned that “For some reason, the iPhone X is going to be the first iPhone I didn’t—on day one—upgrade to, but my wife will, so I’ll be close enough to see it.

The statement came as a shock as Woz has been quite passionate about getting the latest iPhones in the past. Apparently, Apple’s lesser known co-founder feels that the highly decorated iPhone X isn’t worth the switch over from his iPhone 8, which is as good as the iPhone 6. Glad to hear that. I no longer feel like a sad case for owning an iPhone 6.

Though Steve Wozniak hasn’t divulged any specific reason for making a dig at the latest iPhone, he did express some doubts about the highly anticipated facial recognition tech. Frankly, who can blame him? Remember the embarrassing demo Face ID fail during the launch event?

Wozniak further hinted that his tech interests lie elsewhere. “My attention doesn’t go to the latest smartphone… as much as it used to. It goes more into articles about electric vehicles and self-driving cars and what companies are doing,” said Wozniak.

If a majority of Apple enthusiasts feel the same way as Wozniak, the company might be in for a nasty shock. By the looks of it, either Wozniak is not so pleased with the newest iteration or the co-founder has grown comfortable with the previous iPhone models.

For those of you who are brave enough to take the first step, iPhone X, as announced during the Apple event, will be up for pre-order on October 27. As for me, I am going to exercise some restraint and wait and watch before blowing up my savings.
