Have you ever had this tiresome conversation with someone where you are desperately trying to tell them where you are, and they just can’t find you, no matter how hard you try?
Yeah, yeah … we feel your pain. Or that of your friend’s who were trying to guide you to that fancy sushi restaurant.
It’s 2016, for crying out loud! Man has been to the moon and back. He is now thinking of space missions to far-flung planets. Surely there’s a better way to guide your friends from just three blocks away!
Well, there is. So let us solve that issue once and for all. Introducing:
Location Sharing on Maps
- Open the native iOS app ‘Maps’.
- Tap the tilted arrow head on the left corner of your screen. The app will zero in on your exact location.
- Tap the share button in the top right corner. It’s the square box with an out-going arrow.
- From the pop-up list of apps that appear, choose how you’d like to share your location. You can send it through Facebook chats, Messages app, WhatsApp groups, or even tweet it for the entire world to find you!
Location Saving in Notes
- Follow steps 1, 2 and 3 from the previous section.
- In the App selection screen, choose Add to Notes this time.
- Your location will now get saved as a note. Save multiple locations like that and later on you can compile them into lists, such as “Favorite restaurants” or “Beer under 99 rupees”, etc.
Direction Sharing through third-party Apps
- Open Maps
- Tap the tilted arrow head on the left corner of your screen. The app will zero down on your exact location.
- Tap the directions button. That’s the twisted arrow button in the top left corner.
- Enter a Start location.
- Now tap the Share button.
- In the next screen, select Routing Apps.
- The next screen will show a list of all the Apps installed on your phone that are capable of showing directions. Click Route next to the app you want to use. (Preferably Google Maps)
- Your app of choice will open with the directions to your location.
So the next time you get separated from your group, use your Maps app to save your directionless soul.
Speaking of giving directions, here’s a video that’ll make your day. You’re welcome!
