Twitter is not a great place to goof up, especially if you’re a celebrity with thousands of followers. Sania Mirza had to find out this harsh truth in a rather awkward way.
Last Wednesday, May 17th, she sent out a tweet that was obviously a paid promotion. She tweeted about how great the new One Plus 3T apparently is.
It was an innocent tweet promoting her sponsors, only she tweeted it from her iPhone! Obviously, she didn’t realise that the ever-narcissist Apple always needs to draw attention to itself. That’s why, when she sent out the tweet, it came with the iPhone branding. And Twitter instantly lost it!
The tweet immediately went viral and trolls started the work they so dedicatedly do — ruin others’ lives.
(Un)fortunately, Sania Mirza has since deleted the tweet, and a treasure trove some of the best twitter responses have been lost. But then, you know how the internet is, nothing is ever truly lost once it’s online. No matter how many times she deletes the tweet, she will never be able to erase the event from our memories.
Maybe this will serve as a good reminder for other celebrities to always double check their tweets before hitting the send button!
