Apple and Samsung’s rivalries are well known, though the two tech giants have had alliances in the past. As per The Elec, Samsung seems to be ramping up for production of OLED screens larger than 10 inches. If that is true, then Samsung might just be gearing up production for OLED iPad displays.
Samsung Might Make Next-Generation iPad Screens
As per Apple analysts, the next generation of iPads might sport OLED screens. Although Apple has recently shifted to using OLED screens on the iPhones, they still use LCD iPad screens. However, the recently launched iPad Pro uses mini-LED technology over an LCD panel.
Rumours have been circulating regarding the OLED iPad displays for quite a while. However, the new report from supply chain enhancements by Apple has added to the anticipation of the next-generation OLED iPads. Though Apple’s mini-LED technology is superior to OLED, the cost involved in making them wouldn’t be suitable for non-Pro iPads.
There’s a certain technological element that goes into making larger OLED displays. Samsung has been talking to its supply chains to gear up development initiatives. Expectations are that the rumoured OLED iPad will arrive by the end of next year or early 2023. And if these rumours hold true, the next iPad Air might be the first Apple tablet with an OLED screen.
Rumours Around OLED MacBook
Certain reports pointed towards an OLED display for Apple’s MacBooks, but it’s unlikely as the soon-to-be-released 16-inch and 14-inch MacBook Pro is expected to come with mini-LED technology. The next generation of the MacBook Air might also spot mini-LED display technology. So, with Apple’s evident shift towards OLED iPads, many are thinking that Samsung’s supply chains might be gearing up for OLED iPads rather than the MacBook possibility.
