A new study by J.D. Power, a US-based marketing information services company, has found out something astounding — Microsoft Surface defeated Apple iPad to take the crown of the tablet with the best customer satisfaction.
The victory is quite emphatic as well.
Microsoft is the highest performer in three areas: the variety of pre-loaded applications; internet connectivity; and availability of manufacturer-supported accessories.
Not only, that, “Microsoft [also] has the highest performance in three styling and design attributes: size of tablet; quality of materials used; and attractiveness of tablet design,” reports Gadgets360.
The study in itself is quite exhaustive, taking a “weighted average” method to give proper weight to various aspects of customer satisfaction. These are:
- performance (28 percent)
- ease of operation (22 percent)
- features (22 percent)
- styling and design (17 percent), and
- cost (11 percent)
Over these factors, Microsoft Surface scored a total of 6 points more than the iPad, thus taking the first place from Apple. Other manufacturers in the top ten are Samsung, Amazon, LG, Acer, and Asus.
Jeff Conklin, the VP of J.D. Power expanded on this feat by Microsft Surface —
“The Microsoft Surface platform has expanded what tablets can do, and it sets the bar for customer satisfaction.”
This is a huge moral victory for Microsoft, who have been putting all their might behind the Surface line of products. More important than the first rank, though, is the revelation that “Early Adopters”, or first time users, are preferring the Microsoft Surface to the iPad.
The iPad is due for a big update, and we hope that the next version of iPads will be able to take back their top spot from Microsoft.
