Last month, we wrote an article that showcased a Speed Test in which Note 7 got its ass kicked by the iPhone 6s. And now that the big brother iPhone 7 has entered the arena, we are back to see how much worse things have gotten for Samsung’s flagship phone.
It has been speculated that Samsung rushed the development of Note 7 to gain an edge over the upcoming iPhone 7, but the move badly backfired with Samsung losing both credibility and market share because of the ‘Note 7 explosion’ problem. And now, to add insult to the injury, iPhone 7 has hit the market with off the chart speed performances.
The Speed Test
Just like the last time, the test consisted of the standard testing routine. Phonebuff had both iPhone 7 and Note 7 opening a bunch of low-end and heavy-duty games. They also added apps from various categories in the mix.
Each app was allowed to run in the background as the next app in the list was launched. Once all the apps were opened, the multitasking screen was activated and all the apps were made active again, in the same order as they were launched.
Let’s see how the test went (Samsung fans, look away!):
The Note 7 performed fairly well by itself, but in comparison to the iPhone 7 it was an embarrassment. It was like watching an Olympic sprinter run alongside amateurs in your county games. The iPhone 7 screamed ahead in the first quarter of the test itself and there was no looking back.
Despite having only 2GB RAM against the Note 7’s 4GB, the iPhone 7 had all the 14 apps ready to fire when evoked from multitasking, while the Samsung had to reload some of them all over again.
The final score showed iPhone 7 completing the test in 1m 40s, while Note 7 took an abysmal 3m 14s to reach the finish line.
Given that 6s did better than Note 7 in the last speed test, it should come as no surprise that iPhone 7 did way better. But it’s still surprising to see the immense difference between the two latest models.
The test is a resounding proof of Apple’s claim that speed doesn’t depend merely on specs, rather on how well the hardware and software gel together. That’s the reason the why Apple’s iPhone is beating Samsung’s Note 7 despite having less RAM and a lower-clocking processor.
For those of you who are conflicted between invested in iPhone 7 over Note 7, you can rest assured that when it comes to speed, iPhone 7 is where you’ll be getting your money worth.
