We all love our big screens. Looking at the high-res, pixel dense, humongous iPhone 6 Plus is a treat to the eyes. But the large screen also has a pretty large problem – you need to have the hands of a giant to use it single handily. How many times have you (almost) dropped your phone because you were trying to reach that far corner with one hand? How many times have you started out with the phone in one hand, only to use the second hand in a matter of seconds after a few choice cuss words?
Let’s face it. For 99% of the people, it is nearly impossible to reach all corners of the larger iPhone with just one hand. Yes, with iOS 9 we do have Apple’s Reachability, but it’s neither adequate nor comfortable for long term use. There are also a lot of tweaks and apps out there that allow you to use Reachability better, but the best of them is OneHandWizard.
OneHandWizard is a new jailbreak tweak that solves the problem. It brings a true one hand mode to the iPhone. OneHandWizard targets the larger iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but it also works fine on the smaller iPhone 5 or 5S.
OneHandWizard is downloaded like any other jailbreak app. Once installed, all you do is double-tap the Home button like you would when activating Reachability, but what pops up instead is the OneHandWizard interface instead.
See this video to see how it works:

Pros:
- Unlike Reachability, OneHandWizard lets you scale down the contents of your display in real time, giving you an unprecedented control over reach and access.
- It allows you have access to all parts of the screen, all app icons, and every corner of an app. Remember Samsung’s one hand solution, it’s just like that.
- OneHandWizard also lets you switch between right-hand and left-hand mode. How cool is that! What’s more, it remembers the last orientation you used and opened the App in the same direction next time.
- It also eliminates the need to use physical buttons on your iPhone! Almost every essential two-handed activity can be done thanks to the three-horizontal-lines button near the bottom of the OneHandWizard interface. Tapping this button presents an overlay that allows you to do the following with one handed ease:
-
- Volume up
- Volume down
- Unmute
- Lock the screen
- Take a screenshot
- Access Notifications!
Cons:
The biggest drawback is that it’s a jailbreak tweak. So you will need to decide whether you want to jeopardize your entire OS just for this one feature.
Other than that, there aren’t (m)any negative things about this App. For the heck of it, we would say that the “Share Buttons” to promote the App are a distraction. And maybe the design isn’t as sleek as some others. But, blah!
NOTE: If you have an older device that doesn’t support Reachability, fear not! OneHandWizard has an Activator option in its preferences. With it, you can assign a gesture to invoke the one hand mode. By default, you have to triple-press the Home button.
Keep in mind that this is a jailbreak tweak, so you can’t use it on a “pristine” device. However, if one-handed use is essential to you, then making Apple’s warranty void may not be such a terrible price to pay.
The App is available for download from their website.
