A Cool Trick to Check iPhone Battery Percentage on Mac

    Spread the word

Picture this – You are lying comfortably on your bed, binge watching Game of Thrones on your Mac. In the meanwhile, your iPhone is plugged in for charging and kept on the table across the room. It’s almost time to leave for an evening out and you aren’t sure how much the iPhone has charged.

What do you do? Get up, walk over to the table, pick up your iPhone, and check its battery? Nah! That’s too much effort 🙂 Let me tell you a smarter way to do this.

Nah! That’s too much effort 🙂 Let me tell you a smarter way to do this. The first thing you should be familiar with is the hidden power of the Option key on your Macbook. In many scenarios, if you press and hold the Option key while clicking a menu icon on Mac, you get access to additional features/information. For example, clicking the Go menu while holding down the Option key shows an additional dropdown of Library. Cool, right?

Now try this same trick with the Wifi icon in the top menu bar of your Mac. You will notice that it shows additional information, like the details of the connected network. See the screenshot below:

Where the hell is this headed, you must be wondering. I was supposed to share an iPhone battery trick and here I am giving gyaan about the functions of Macbook keys. Patience my friend, I am getting there.

Make sure that both Bluetooth and Wifi are switched on on your iPhone. This way it will show up under the Personal Hotspot submenu under Wifi tab. Now when you activate the Wifi menu while holding the Option key, scroll down to your iPhone’s name under the Personal Hotspot.

Now, this is where everything comes together!

When you activate the Wifi menu while holding down the Option key, scroll down to your iPhone’s name under the Personal Hotspot. Hold the cursor over it for a couple of seconds and an information pane will pop out on the left. It will show additional information about your iPhone, including the current battery percentage. See screenshot:

That’s it! No third party app or jailbreaking needed. It takes just 2 clicks to check your iPhone’s battery on your Mac. No more walking from one end of the room to other. #LoveLazyLife
