Early rumours about the iPhone 14 surfaced well before the launch of the 13 series, thanks to Jon Prosser. Now that the dust has somewhat settled after iPhone 13’s release, we thought we should talk about iPhone 14 again. A new rumour suggests that at least one iPhone 14 model will miss out on the ProMotion display Apple introduced to the 13 Pros year. The ProMotion display is essentially what allows a 120Hz refresh rate.
As per TheElec, at least one of the four iPhone 14 models might have a 60Hz refresh rate. This means Apple plans to install an LTPS OLED display instead of the LTPO OLED on 2021 Pro models. It’s disappointing but not surprising, as Apple might want to keep the ProMotion display exclusive to its Pro models.
iPhone 14 Release Date and Expectations
The iPhone 14 might see the light of the day somewhere in September next year. As far as specifications are concerned, the next Apple iPhone might offer a full-screen display, a faster processor, an improved camera, and better battery life. Also, the iPhone 14 Pro might be the first iPhone to be provided with a Titanium chassis. Most anticipatedly, iPhone 14 might finally be notchless, with a punch-hole camera in its stead.
Furthermore, rumours say Apple might discontinue the mini variant with the iPhone 14 models. However, the tech giant will continue to offer a four-model line-up that could include two 6.1-inch (iPhone 14 and 14 Pro) and two 6.7-inch (iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max) devices. Amongst these, we expect the iPhone 14 will miss out on ProMotion display technology as Apple would price it competitively.
