After a CoinX Tweet on August 10, the netizens have gone crazy about how they don’t like iPhone 11 being named ‘Pro.’ Because CoinX has a brief but proven history of correctly predicting Apple’s next move, people are actually paying attention to it.
So, apparently, the successor to the iPhone XR series will be iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, respectively. From all the leading Apple reviewers to regular Apple fanboys are hating the terminology. And it’s for a simple reason – Pro adjacent to iPhone sound silly.
The iPhones are among the miracles of modern science. There were times when portable computers and palm-sized phones were only part of Sci-Fi stories. But Apple has been working day and night to bring new, powerful, and user-friendly devices year after year. And boy do they make stories into reality! (Ahem, most times, they do!)
Are They Really ‘Pro’?
To give you an example of how pro-level their devices can be, here’s an example. People use the iPhone camera to shoot full-fledged ads, and wait! They even shoot movies on iPhones! What in the name of sweet God! People have all sort of applications and software on the iPhone so that they can work anytime, anywhere, without any hassle. But the reason for putting iPhone to use for all kind of professional work has little to do with it being a ‘Pro’ device.
For some, it’s about the iPhone being an all-rounder. Almost all its features are among the best available in the market. So, why go for anything else. It’s more convenient any day. Your iPhone is always with you. For others, it’s budget. After buying an iPhone for a significant amount of money, they can hardly afford another device for a little more specific detail.
And for most of the Apple fanboys, owning an iPhone or any other Apple device give them a sense of pride. iPhone comes with a PR value. A photo clicked or an email sent from an iPhone is worth a look in the world of smartphones (at least for now.) So, the iPhone is more liked for this worth, than it being a ‘pro.’ And the cost at which we buy an iPhone, I would prefer the best of the lot.
Why iPhone 11 Pro Max is Even Worse!
For a simple reason, there’s nothing ‘Max’ or extravagant about the iPhone. Apple products are known for their minimalistic design. From branding to advertising, the mostly white spaced packaging and low-key product videos, Apple is all about simplicity in its style and look. And not just iPhones, the philosophy applies to all the products: Airpod – great name, simple look. And the logic behind the name is unmatched. Anyone familiar with EarPods and iPods, understand pods. And ‘Air’ simply because of the airwaves technology.
Simple yet classy! iPhone 11 Pro Max? Not so much.
But, as much as we detest the terms, it could be possible.
The term ‘Pro’ has been a part for MacBook and iPad range, for long, extending it to the iPhone too shouldn’t be a surprise. And the ‘Max’ suffix for larger models is convenient too.
And coming from a leaker like CoinX, it gets really hard to ignore! Personally, I can still wrap my head around ‘Pro’ bit, but I would like Apple to drop ‘Max.’ What about? Are you pro the name iPhone 11 Pro Max?
