Apple’s most touted iPad has finally hit the shelves in India. The prices are even higher than we expected and stocks limited. Nonetheless, we are still super excited to get our hands on the big brother of the iPad family.

Here’s a quick summary of what the new iPad is all about

The iPad Pro is mega iPad with screen size as big as the Macbook, 12.9 inches to be precise. The screen is absolutely gorgeous with a 2732 x 2048 pixels resolution retina display. iPad Pro is just 6.9 millimetres thin and weighs a mere 713 grams. So it’s big but not bulky.

This also the most powerful iPad by far. It packs a 64 bit A9X chip with M9 motion coprocessor. Apple claimed the iPad Pro launch event that it is more powerful that most PCs and geek bench reports have confirmed the claim. In fact, in some areas, iPad Pro outperforms Macbooks as well!

Just like its previous avatars, the iPad Pro is also available in three colors – Gold, Silver and Space Grey. However, this time, Apple had fiddled with the storage and network options. Generally, iPads come in 16, 64 and 128 GB storage configurations with cellular option for each. In case of iPad Pro, there are only 3 options – 32 GB wifi only, 128 GB wifi only, and 128 GB wifi + cellular.

And yes! As expected, iPad Pro is freaking expensive:

    • The Wi-Fi only 32GB model is priced at Rs 67,900
    • 128GB Wi-Fi only model is Rs 79,900
    • 128GB model with 4G LTE connectivity costs Rs 91,900

Another bummer is that the essential iPad Pro accessories – the Smart Cover and the Pencil (Stylus) – are also not yet available in India. Retailers are expecting stocks very soon, but we cannot confirm the exact date and how easily available these accessories will be.

So that’s the iPad Pro in India folks. We couldn’t get our hands on demo units today but hope to see one very soon. We will then share our first impressions and our advice whether it’s worth emptying the pockets for. Watch this space!
