To the surprise of many Apple loyalists and tech experts, iPad Air didn’t get an upgrade at the September event last year. Apple is finally setting the record straight by launching next version of its most popular tablet at an event in March 2016!That’s right. In all probability, we will get to see a brand new iPad Air 3. In anticipation of that, we’re sharing what we already know about the product:
Display size: will continue to be 9.7 inches.
No 3-D Touch: There have been reports of production issues when using the 3D technology on iPads. This is quite understandable since it’s tough to replicate such a complex technology on such a large screen. Therefore, it’s highly unlikely that the next iPad will come with this feature.
Software: If Apple is planning to launch iOS 10 in the March event, then we might get to see the new iPads shipping with it. However, iOS is updated at WWDC in June, so in all probability, iPad Air 3 will launch with iOS 9 only.
Processor: We’re hoping to see Apple’s latest A9X processor inside the Air 3 – the same chip found in the iPad Pro. Since the iPad Pro is capable of editing multiple 4K video clips simultaneously, this will make the iPad Air 3 a solid choice for creative users who don’t want the insanely big screen of the Pro.
Storage: We would like Apple to give finally up on the 16 GB model. At least for the iPads. Seriously! A 32, 64 and 128 GB storage option sounds more appealing. Will it happen? Chances are slim.
Camera: The camera might get a minor upgrade. But that’s hardly any reason to celebrate. Because the iPad is not a device, you buy to shoot photos.
Pencil and Smart Cover: This is what we are most excited to find out. Some ‘experts’ are claiming that Apple will bring Pencil support on the smaller tablet as well. If that were to happen, iPad Air would become the perfect tablet for most people.
So far, this is all we know. As for the price, we are thinking it will be anywhere between INR 35,000 to 65,000 depending on the configuration you choose. We cannot be sure, though, as there is a lot of speculation. We will know when it’s officially launched. March cannot come soon enough!!
