Apple recently released latest update of software powering its iPhones and iPads — iOS 10.3.2. It was released as a bunch of minor bug fixes, however, users are reporting severe battery drain problems!
Apple’s latest iOS update seems to be draining the battery a lot more than usual.
The update was supposed to be merely a patch up, preparing the iPhones and iPads for the upcoming bigger software release of iOS 11 this June. Apple always releases one final “bug-fixes” patch of software before any big OS release. iOS 10.3.2 was also meant to do the same.
However, some error in the coding seems to affecting the battery negatively.
In the following tweet, for example, a user complains that her phone went from 80% to 50% in “two seconds.” While we believe the phrase “two seconds” was used to dramatise the events, I sympathise with her.

Since upgrading my iPhone 6s Plus, I have also seen a drastic drop in the battery life of my phone.
Earlier, it used to two days on low usage. And even with moderate to heavy usage, I would get at least 30-36 hours easily out of the phone. Now, I am seeing a reduction of battery life by 40-50%
Since upgrading to iOS 10.3.2 my iPhone drains out in 18-20 hours.
Even Forbes has picked up a similar story where they report of one Kamlesh Parmar, saying that —
“[…] not only has he seen extreme battery drain (10-20% within minutes of unplugging from a full charge and switching off with up to 40% battery remaining), but that this affects his iPhone 6 despite it only recently receiving a new Apple battery.”
I would like to point out that this issue has been reported by only about 10-15% of the people who have upgraded. So if you’ve upgraded and not noticied any difference in your battery life, chances are you were in the remaining 85%. Which is good; no need to panic.
If you haven’t upgraded yet, then please wait a little longer. Skip iOS 10.3.2 completely and skip ahead to iOS 11 directly when it comes out.
If you did upgrade, and are facing the issue, then sorry, there’s nothing to be done as of now. iOS 11 is going to be out in June first week, so you don’t have to wait much longer.
