In a press release last Tuesday, Instagram officially released version 24 of their photo sharing platform. This latest Instagram update has completely redesigned how we use comments within the app!
What’s new, you ask?
Well, that’s what we are here for, no? Read on…
Comment Threads
Comments on Instagram posts will now be organised by threads. That means you can finally reply to individual messages separately and maintain some sense in the conversation(s). Otherwise, right now, we know how very chaotic the comments section always is. It’s just a bunch of messages all thrown together, with none of them making any sense!
This feature has been on Facebook for a very long time, and it was only a matter of “when” — and not “if” — it was going to come to Instagram also.
Photo/Video Comments
In another press release, a new feature of this Instagram update has was announced. This feature adds the ability to reply to comments using photos or videos. If your app is updated, you’ll notice a small camera icon within every comment box. Pressing that will open up the camera and then the standard Instagram controls/options will be displayed.
Again, this is a repeat of a similar feature we use on Facebook. Obviously, these updates are efforts at streamlining the two sister-platforms.
As for the release date, this is what the press release adds —
“These updates are available as part of Instagram version 24 and above for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play and will be available globally in the coming weeks.”
So if you can’t see the update right now, don’t panic. You’ll surely get it within a couple of weeks.
