If you love Instagram and you have an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, the way you share photos is going to change forever!
Anyone who’s bought the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus has been flaunting it unabashedly to anybody who’s looking to be impressed. Now, the elite iPhone 7 gang will have yet another reason to gloat after Instagram releases some updates that are exclusively for users of these new handsets.
The features specific to iPhone 7 and 7 Plus include a wider range of colours and display upgrades for Instagram. These upgrades, being a part of backend development, do not require you to update your app.
As announced by Mike Krieger, co-founder of Instagram, through tweets, “If you are on an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, Instagram now supports wide colour capture and display throughout the app – writing an eng blog on it soon“.
We cannot wait to read his blog!
Coming back to the updates, iPhone users can now post GIFs to Instagram. Photos can be converted to Boomerang – a colour filter especially for iPhone 7 which loops back and forth infinitely and is almost like GIFs. Even Apple live photos can be turned to Boomerangs. iPhone 7 Plus users also get the additional capability of one finger zoom.
The more appealing iPhone 7 only feature is the support for a wider colour gamut. It makes the pictures look more detailed and appealing. Ian Spalter (Head of Design, Instagram), had announced the support of wider colour gamut on iPhone 7 at the time of its launch but for some reason, the upgrade got delayed.
With the growing competition of SnapChat, Instagram needs to keep coming up with marque features to maintain its lead in the market. Will these iPhone 7 only upgrades help the cause? We aren’t sure, but it is a step in the right direction.
