Yes, yes, we know that you already know all there’s to know about chatting like a super ninja. But did you know that there’s always something new to know? And that we might know something too?
You’re quick, your fingers move over the keyboard at lightening speed, typing out responses within just seconds of receiving a message from your friends.
But what if you could be faster?
Here is a list of some handy keyboard shortcuts that make chatting on your iPhone super easy. From basic tips to the advanced, these tips will make your life so much easier.
When in a chat, swipe from the right edge of the screen to reveal the time stamp for each individual message. Swipe back to hide them.
Unlike how copy works in the rest of the iOS, you can’t copy just a part of the text from a message. You’ll have to copy the entire message and to do that, simply press and hold the message. Works even if the message is entirely made up of emoticons.
After pressing down and holding a message (just like in the previous step), there’s a option that will pop up showing “more”. Press on that to select multiple messages simultaneously. Then, from the two options that appear at the bottom of the screen, you can either choose the trash icon to delete selected pictures or click on the “arrow” icon to forward the selected messages.
Continuing with the “press-down-and-hold” trick, you can do it on media messages, too, where, in addition to the two options we talked about earlier, you get an additional option “Save”. Choosing that will save the image to the camera roll.
If you feel that the conversation you’re having needs to be embellished with something more than emoticons … well, why not just use your face? And you don’t have to move away from the iMessage app to do so. Here’s a quick selfie tip – just press and hold the camera button in your message window. From the pop up options, you can click a photo and record a video. To take a selfie, click on the ‘Front camera’ icon on the top right corner of the screen.
For those times when the argument is getting too heated and you feel like ranting, voice messages are the best option. And if your audio recording is full of mistakes (because you’re too excited to form coherent sentences), you can always delete it. Now, go win that argument, you!
The last tip is for those among you who are paranoid that someone might read their messages. So when you’re in the list view, just swipe left on any conversation, choose the delete option, and your entire chat conversation will vanish. Note that you’ll still be able to send and receive messages from this person, however, any chat you’ve had with them till date will be erased. Please note that this tip will not affect any of the images you may have saved from your chats with that person. You’ll still have access to them in your gallery. So don’t worry, we got you covered!
Do let us know if you have any other tricks that you think ought to make the list. After all, we are a community and sharing is caring, no?
