Whether or not you’re an Apple Watch enthusiast, you would have given some thought to the benefits of a device that doubles up as health monitors. And if you like the idea then the future Mac updates are likely to be even more
Bio-Sensors for Macs
It seems like Apple is trying to bring health tracking features to the MacBook! The Cupertino-based tech giant recently got a patent approved by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for an integrated
How It Might Work
Placing the sensors in the keyboard seemed like a no-brainer. However, to integrate them conveniently would mean placing them where the wrists usually rest on the keyboard. And this would allow the sensors to tune into the person’s blood pressure, heart rate and respiration, and keep track of any fluctuations or other abnormalities.
According to the patent application, this is exactly how the sensors will work. The details say “In particular, the biosensor may be integrated into an enclosure of a notebook computer allowing the biosensor to measure a condition of the user while the device is in use. The device may be configured to operate the sensor in a first mode to detect the proximity of the user with respect to the device and to operate the same sensor in another mode to sense a physiological condition or determine a health metric associated with the user.”
So, what do you think of Apple’s health monitors that could possibly be a feature on future Macs? Unnecessary or just what you need to show your boss the number of heart palpitations they give you? The latter, methinks!
