Finding friends in a crowded place can be a hassle. Especially if you’re in a new, unknown place. Google Maps realises this problem and has found a way to end it once and for all.
Google is introducing a feature that will let you share your location in real-time on Google Maps.
Unlike other location sharing services, like WhatsApp or iMessages, this feature is going to be dynamic. So instead of one static location, you’ll be able to beam your exact coordinates to your friends even if you move away from the original place.
“Google’s new feature works similar to Find My Friends, only unlike Apple’s app, Google Maps will be able to show you exactly where your friends are as they move,” reports Cult of Mac.
Another good news is that this feature is “open app“. Meaning that you’re not restricted to using a single app for sharing the location. You can choose to share the location from any of the chat/messaging apps that you like. The only restriction is that the link will open in Google Maps. Which is fine, I guess, because who uses Apple Maps anyways!?
“You can share your real-time location with your Google contacts, or even share with friends and family by sending a link on your favorite messenger apps,” says Google.
Google will soon be releasing this feature in an update for both Andriod and iOS. So even if your friends don’t have an iPhone, they can still use this feature 🙂
Now all that’s left is for someone to fix this crappy internet connection we are always surrounded with! #Hope
