Apple leaves many Easter eggs in every version of its operating systems. Most of these fun elements are delibreate, but some can be credited to unintentional bugs. One such ‘feature’ of iOS9 is the ability to create nested folders. Which basically means, you can add folders within folders. It’s a slightly tricky workaround, but works well once you get the hang of it.
Follow these steps to create sub-folders in iOS9
- Make sure your iPhone or iPad is upgraded of iOS 9.0.2
- Move the main folder (in which you want to shift the other folder) to the top row of the screen
- Long press and hold the second folder (that you want to shift into the main folder). Keep holding it. Don’t remove your finger off that icon.
- Now, simultaneously, tap the main folder repeatedly till it opens up. Be a little patient. It might take more than a few taps to open the main folder.
- When it does, drag the second folder in it and press home button to end the process.
- Hey Presto! You have now have managed to magically add a folder within a folder on your iPhone or iPad.
Here’s a video that shows the trick in action

Note: Apple doesn’t officially support nested folders. This, most likely, is a bug and Apple may fix it any time with a software update. So enjoy the fun while it lasts.
