The pictures of the supposed “iPhone 8” design dummy were released recently, and it has created a frenzy among fans. And why wouldn’t it?
According to speculations, this phone is going to have some of the most high-end technologies that you’ve ever seen in smartphones. Users of iPhone in India are also equally excited and awaiting the release of the new super iPhone by Apple.
It is also likely that there could also be a new copper gold colour from what you can make out from the pictures. Though the dummy’s provenance is yet unknown.
On the contrary, a well-connected KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently claimed that the iPhone 8 would launch by September this year in three colours viz. black, gold and silver. These options certainly seem way more limited as compared to iPhone 7 which is available for a total of six colours viz. jet black, black, silver, gold, rose-gold and red.
The model seems to be consistent with other “iPhone 8” rumours that are guessing it to have a glass back, an edge to edge OLED display with sensor “notch” at the top and a vertically aligned dual-lens camera. There have been several photos of the mockup that were shared by Giga.de editor Ben Miller.
In one of the pictures, you can see Miller comparing the iPhone 8 dummy unit with the 5.5 inch iPhone 7 plus to show how the 5.8 inch OLED display will offer more display without the larger casing. This comparison makes it pretty clear that the anticipated iPhone will feature most benefits of the Plus model of iPhones with a more flexible housing that is available in the non-plus iPhone models.
You’ll realise that the unit looks pretty similar to the hardware that later appeared on a Chinese website called Weibo. It is all white from the front bezels to the notch. Most likely, while shipping the phones, they will make these sections back so that it blends with the display.
The decision to scale back on the colours could be because of production issue, the analyst says. Kuo has also predicted that initially the production would be limited to the iPhone 8. Apparently as few as 2 to 4 million units could be ready by this quarter, and eventually, the manufacturing will scale up rapidly.
When it comes to features, the iPhone 8 should offer cool attributes like the A11 processor, a much faster and wireless charging and 3D facial recognition. According to the pictures and speculations, the physical home button would be replaced by a virtual one. However, it is still uncertain how Apple would cope with the Touch ID if it wouldn’t be replaced with facial recognition.
So, all you users of iPhone in India do tell us how excited you are waiting for the launch of the super iPhone of Apple.
