The year 2016 runs its full course in a matter of days. As we look ahead to a new year with a set of brand new resolutions, the world is looking forward to new technologies that 2017 will usher in. However, before we start fantasising about all the new technology and apps that are yet to come, there’s an important question we need to answer: Are we making the most of the existing apps for 2016?
As the year gradually winds to an end, let us consider some of the best iOS apps that surfaced this year.
Let’s begin with our own country, India, where three apps top the chart:
- PRISMA – (Winner of the best iPhone app of the year) Transforms your photos into artworks using the styles of famous artists
- CLASH ROYALE – (Winner of the iPhone game of the year) A real-time multiplayer game starring the Royales, your favorite Clash characters and much, much more.
- BEAR – (Best app in the Mac App Store) Bear is a beautiful, flexible writing app for crafting notes and prose.
You can download any of these three apps for the best experience this Yuletide season. If you do not exercise prior caution, you might even get seriously addicted. They are that awesome, right hand to God!
There are other names in the top ten productivity brackets that were considered the best of 2016. They include:
- Fitso — Your fitness coach helps you lose weight, improve your exercises, get better at running or riding, and reach your fitness goals.
- Folioscope — The best app for creating terrific animations in no time.
- Hyper — A new way to enjoy the best videos on the internet. (Rated best app of 2016 in the category by Apple).
- Tinycards — Revolutionising flash cards and memory building techniques.
- Memrise — Memrise Language master spy will train your language learning skills and send you deep undercover as a spy in a distant Universe.
- Meditation Studio — Untangle your mind with Meditation Studio. (Featured by Apple as “10 Best Apps of the Year” 2016).
- Quartz — Quartz’s news app puts the entire global economy in your pocket.
Now let’s consider the games of the year. Among those that made it to the top ten, the following had a slight edge over the others:
- Chameleon Run
- FIFA Mobile Football
- Plants vs. Zombies
- BLUK
- Rodeo Stampede
- PKTBALL
- Rubek
- Steppy Pants App
All these games have been getting a lot of attention, and if you do get addicted to any of them, don’t blame us!
Note: With the recent release of the Super Mario game, these games have serious competition. We’re quite sure that Mario is going to outrun these games in less than a month! Get it? Outrun … Ha ha ha!
