Apple has quietly taken the first conclusive step towards making India their next big battleground. It has started selling iPhones manufactured in India!!
For now, the sales are restricted only to select stores in Bengaluru. Sales are also limited to a single model of the phone – the iPhone SE. Apparently, these phones come with a packaging print of “Designed by Apple in California, Assembled in India’. Much like its products that get manufactured in China.
News18 reports the prices as following —
“The ‘assembled in India’ iPhone SE costs Rs 27,200 for the 32GB variant and Rs 37,200 for the 128 GB of the phone respectively.”
So we’re not seeing any price drop as of yet because these rates are still listed as the official price points for the iPhone SE on Apple’s India website. We don’t know if that’s because Apple is waiting for the product to all the other States/Cities before announcing a price drop. Or, maybe there isn’t going to be a reduction in the cost at all!
There’s no way for us to find out right now. All we can do is wait and watch.
