Remember AirPower? Back in 2017, Apple announced a wireless charging mat that could simultaneously power up the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods. But things didn’t work out as Apple hoped, and AirPower never saw the light of the day. However, if latest rumours (courtesy of Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter) are anything to go by, Apple is working on a multi-device charger again.

Sure we have the MagSafe Duo wireless charger, but that’s just a combination of an iPhone and Apple Watch charger. Yes, you can wirelessly charge your AirPods on them, but other Apple products like the iPad lag behind.

iPhone Wireless Charger That Can Power Up Other Apple Devices

So, a multiverse of wireless charging technology is coming from the house of Apple and Gurman’s newsletter mentions a multi-device wireless charger capable of short and long-distance wireless charging technology. Moreover, Apple imagines a future where all of Apple’s major devices can charge each other.

A friend of mine, an Android loyalist, asked me, “Isn’t Apple’s so-called future imagination work like reverse charging?” And yeah, I get it. I know you already have that feature where your Samsung device can charge your earpods. However, Apple is working on something bigger than just reverse charging.

There have been reports on how Apple has filed for a patent for a future MacBook device that can wirelessly charge other devices. And since it’s Apple we are talking about, a full-blown multiverse of future devices that can wirelessly charge each other might be coming soon.

Sure, the AirPower mat didn’t go on sale. But, we are hopeful of a future where a single accessory can wirelessly charge all our Apple devices, besides Apple products that can recharge each other’s batteries. What do you think? Will our AirPower 2.0 dreams finally become reality?
