Do you own an original Aluminium Apple Watch? If yes, then there ‘s a good chance that you might be eligible for a free Apple Watch upgrade!
Cult of Mac reports —
Employees and Authorized Service Providers in some countries have been given authorization to replace original models with Apple Watch Series 1 units, but only certain variants are eligible.
According to an internal memo, secured by MacRumors, service centres across the world have been told to replace damaged first generation Apple Watches with Apple Watch Series 1 units. If not the entire unit, then at least some faulty parts will be replaced under this new Apple Watch upgrade scheme.
“In some countries, Apple Watch Aluminum (1st generation) parts (in all colors) may be substituted with Apple Watch Aluminum (Series 1) parts.”
The offer is only available to certain variations of the aluminium Apple Watch models, distributed across the colours — Silver, Space Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold. Also, only a few countries are eligible for the offer. Unfortunately, the memo doesn’t clarify the details of either of the limitations. So the best course of action for you would be to just take your device to an Apple Store and ask if it’s eligible for the Apple Watch upgrade.
This might seem like a blind shot in the dark, but you’ve got to take a chance! Otherwise, you might end up missing a golden opportunity to get a free Apple Watch upgrade!
