The Apple Watch is about to get its much awaited upgrade and we’re soon to be introduced to its more advanced self – the Apple Watch 2! As it happens with most Apple products, there are a lot of rumours about the features we might get to see in the brand new edition of the Watch. And because we’re extremely generous, we’ve compiled all of them into a single post for your benefit.
Here you go …
1. September Launch
First thing’s first, we’re almost certain that the Apple Watch 2 will make an appearance in the September event alongside the much hyped iPhone 7. This means you don’t have to wait more that month to get your hands on one of these beauties!
2. inbuilt GPS and Barometer
The newer models of the Apple Watch will have inbuilt GPS as well as a barometer – technologies essential for providing location based services. We can expect apps that are reliant on GPS (like Uber, Zomato, etc) to work better with Apple Watch 2.
3. Water Resistant
Unlike high-end Swiss watches, the smartwatch is an electronic device, and prone to damage when exposed to water. With their latest instalment, however, Apple is looking to fix the issue by making Apple Watch 2 completely waterproof. Maybe you’ll be able to swim around with your Watch on!
4. Better OS, Faster Processor
Apple has already shown off the watchOS 3.0, which promises to make the smartwatch even more responsive. The newer models are expected to have the advanced hardware to keep up with the OS. With faster processors being fit into the watch, we can expect even smoother performance.
5. Cellular Connectivity
What!? Seriously!? Now they want to fit a sim card inside the damn Watch? Don’t we deserve a life?
In all seriousness, though, bringing cellular connectivity to a smartwatch is a big step forward. It’s now upto developers to see how they integrate this feature into their apps.
BONUS: upgraded Apple Watch 1
The existing model of the Apple Watch will receive a few minor upgrades as well. We’re not sure of the specifics, but there’s talk of a thinner screen and bigger battery.
Just to be clear, there’s going to be an Apple Watch 2, and there’s going to be an Apple Watch 1, version 2.0
Both are different.
We know it’s confusing. Don’t strain your brain. Parle G khao, dimaag ki shakti badao!
Peace out!
