For years now, the Apple website has been the benchmark for beautiful web design. In continuation with their principle of design innovation, Apple has taken a step further and made their website even more user-friendly.

And, of course, more stunning as well!

The Apple Support Page is one of Apple’s most visited sites. Thousands of people throng it every day in search of solutions and help. And because the consumer experience is such an integral part of the Apple ecosystem, it was no wonder that this page was among the first to get a complete overhaul.

Apple took to Twitter to announce the new design for their Support Page. True to Apple’s minimalistic philosophy, the homepage bears just the name of the site and a huge search bar (much like Spotlight on the Mac) atop a desk surrounded by people using Apple gadgets.

Apple has also made the site fully responsive. Meaning that the site will look just as good when viewed on a mobile phone/tablet. This was an essential upgrade for two reasons:

    1. A huge amount of internet traffic nowadays comes from the smartphones
    2. Google emphasises that all websites be fully responsive (And it’s never a good idea to piss off Google, even if you’re Apple).

Apple has also added a new section to their website called Popular Topics. This is basically a redesigned FAQs section. The most common questions (and their answers) appear neatly arranged as “topic tiles”.

We are assuming that unlike the traditional FAQ section, Apple’s Popular Topics will be dynamic. That is, the topic tiles will change according to the answers people are searching for most frequently asked questions. But, that’s only a guess and we’ll have to wait a few weeks to test this theory of ours.

Given the perfectionist that Apple is, it’s already running a survey to help “improve your Apple Support online experience”. It hasn’t been even a week since the changes were implemented and Apple already wants your feedback. Talk about being thorough!

In the end, we have to say that we’re loving this new look. After all, When you land at a support page, you’re already plagued with some device/software problem. The last thing you need is bad user interface compounding your miseries, right? We hope that other companies take yet another leaf out of Apple’s book (like they so often do), and redesign their support pages as well.

    Let the change begin …
