Apple just wrapped up their first event of the year, and let’s just say that it was totally worth the hype. The fantastic thing about this event, and what truly set it apart, was the trail of launches that it was hailed in by. Tim Cook took to Twitter to first announce a new iPad Mini, and then new AirPods, fuelling the anticipation for this event. After all, what could Apple possibly unveil at the event that would outshine an iPad Mini and AirPods? Well, now that the event has come to a close and the Apple execs (and a boatload of celebs) have taken the stage to announce new services, we finally know. Here’s the only rundown you’ll need.
Apple TV+
Apple TV+, AKA the new big thing in the world of content streaming. This is Apple’s very own digital streaming service, much like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and the like. And that’s not the only news that’s meant to impress you. What will leave you gobsmacked is that they confirmed working on original content with industry legends like Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Anniston, Reese Witherspoon, J.J. Abrams, Rupert Grint, and Kevin Durant. Is that amazing or is it amazing? But what puts a damper on things is the fact that didn’t really answer any of the critical questions. We need to know how much it’ll cost, why it’ll launch all the way in fall, and so much more! Read everything about TV+ here.
Apple News+
A massive stride in digital content, Apple News+ is a subscription that adds to the pre-existing Apple News app to revolutionalise the way people view magazines and newspapers. With magazines like TIME, The New Yorker, Vogue, Elle, ESPN, Conde Nast Traveler, People, Vanity Fair, National Geographic, Vulture, and (brb, need to catch my breath) so much more, it means that you have the best-stocked newsstand ever right there at your fingertips! You can start your free trial for Apple News+ now, and to find out more about the app, click here.
Apple Card
Next up, we have Apple foray into credit cards! For all those of you who went ‘Ummm, what even?’, we feel you. But the Apple Card is actually kind of cool. It is seamlessly integrated with the Wallet app, making for a smooth-as-soft-serve user experience. Unlike a lot of credit cards, this one doesn’t charge an annual fee, has cool cash-back benefits, and promises the best security. And to top it all off, the smooth titanium body is quite a look. It’s beautiful and interrupted only by the Apple logo and the owner’s name. Will the Apple Card change the face of transactions or will it merely be a blip on the radar? Click here to find out more.
Apple Arcade
Gaming fanatics out there, this one is for you. Apple has joined hands with creators and companies to bring to you a gaming subscription. Complete with 100+ new games, the Cupertino-based company has promised to ‘raise the bar’ on how people play digital games. It is not an app in itself, it is more so a tab in the App Store that’ll allow you to access and download a plethora of amazing games. You can choose games by creators like Hironobu Sakaguchi, Ken Wong, and Will Write; and companies such as Sega, Snowman, Ustwo Games, Lego, and many more. Do we think it’ll live up to the hype?
