According to Apple, there is a faulty sound receiver module on a few iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. This defective module has been causing troubles in a small percentage of iPhone 12 and 12 Pro devices. So, if your device is eligible, Apple will repair sound issues for free by replacing the faulty part.
Apple Repair Programme for iPhone 12 Sound Issues
If your iPhone 12 or 12 Pro isn’t emitting sound during calls, you may be eligible for a free repair. However, any other component replacement required to reach the faulty sound component may incur additional charges. For instance, if you have a cracked screen, they’ll need to change the display beforehand and you’ll have to pay for the replacement.
All iPhone 12 and 12 Pro modules manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021 are covered for two years from the date of purchase for the faulty sound module. So, even if you happen to stumble upon the problem in the future, you’re eligible for free repairs. Apart from the part causing the sound issue, all others have the standard one-year warranty.
But before you head to the nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider, make sure you’re eligible for the program. The Cupertino company has limited free repairs to only the country where you purchased the iPhone 12 or 12 Pro model.
