Say Goodbye to These Apple Products Forever

Come October 31st, a lot of Apple products are going to pass into history. What do we mean? Just that Apple is calling it quits on following products:

    • All iPhone 4 models
    • Late 2010 13-inch MacBook Air
    • Third-generation AirPort Extreme
    • Mid 2009 AirPort Time Capsule

These gadgets will now go into Apple’s “vintage and obsolete” list. Vintage includes those items that have not been in production for over five years, while obsolete means products not in production for over seven years. So, when any gadget or device makes it to the vintage and obsolete list:

    a) Apple stops manufacturing them

    b) It will also stop providing hardware services for any of them

As of now, the products seem confirmed to go onto Apple Japan’s vintage and obsolete list. However, we can expect the US, UK, Europe, and Asia-Pacific to follow soon. The first signs of global shut down can already be seen in the CDMA models of iPhone 4 which have been “disowned” by Apple worldwide last month. Soon, the Macs will follow, with 2010 MacBook Air, mid-2009 iMac, 2010 Mac mini, and mid-2010 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro being given the boot.

One of the main reasons why Apple is discontinuing these products is because the software tends to get tedious and buggy on the older models. New versions of iOS and macOS have trouble running on devices from before mid-2010. It’s only natural (and more efficient) that Apple is choosing to get rid of them. After all, they have to make a place for the newer models on the shelves as well.

So, if you’re an Apple memorabilia collector, now would be a good time to go and buy some of these devices and add them to your hall of fame. That is if you can get your hands on them because it’s highly unlikely that any seller would still be selling these old devices.
