If you’re fascinated by the Apple Pencil (like me), and harbour a lifetime of love for the Mac (like me), then you’ll be absolutely thrilled by this news (again, like me!!)
Future Mac Trackpads will be compatible with Apple Pencil
Okay, full disclosure, this is not a confirmed news yet, but sounds legit and logical. Moreover, the speculation comes from a source that always serves as the crystal ball of Apple’s future — their patents!
Apple has filed a patent for a technology that allows the Pencil to be used on a Mac Trackpad, reports The Verge. Below is an image from that patent that clearly shows a Pencil being used on what is definitely not an iPad. And from what we can guess, the surface looks a lot like the trackpads that ship with the Mac.
Because the MacBooks and iMacs have the same trackpad technology built into them, it’s safe to assume that the Pencil will work with all the versions of Mac.
If this is true, then the happiest of the bunch will be the designers. They’ll get the best of everything – power of the Mac, ease of the Apple Pencil and freedom from the headache of using third party devices – all in one single stroke! (Hehe.. get it? Pencil, drawing, stroke?)
The upcoming MacBooks were already being touted as the “bestest” in the industry because of their OLED Touch Panel and all! And now this! If this feature comes in the same Macs that have an OLED Touch Panel, then we can officially declare the new MacBooks to be off the charts awesome!!!
We cannot, just cannot, wait for these brand new Macs. Can you!?
