Here’s something exciting; an unconfirmed report on Twitter from an Apple hardware collector indicates that the Apple Pencil might be coming in black!
The Tweet was put out by Mr-White who has a modest history of revealing details about Apple’s product plans. He has mostly shared unreleased hardware prototypes in the past, which have been hits and misses. But he’s most notably known for revealing accurate pictures of the design changes in the iPad mini 5 before its launch in 2019.
His Twitter post from June simply reads “New Apple Pencil is Black????.”
As Mr-White didn’t provide any further information, we’re left with our bunch of speculations. Which of the existing Apple Pencils could be getting the new colour option? Does he mean that there’s a third-gen model on the way?
Till date, we haven’t heard any rumours of a next-generation Apple Pencil being in the works. But Apple is said to be working on mini-LED versions of the iPad Pro. Initial reports suggested that a 12.9-inch mini-LED iPad Pro could be revealed in the fall of 2020, but more recent information indicates that these mini-LED models won’t arrive till 2021. It’s possible that a new Apple Pencil could be revealed with the release of the upgraded tablets.
I don’t know what’s the deal with Apple making all of their accessories exclusively white. I mean, all the cables are white, all the chargers are white, all the adapters are white, even the AirPods are white. People have been asking and begging Apple to make the AirPods available in different colours ever since it came out, but they have not budged.
However, if Mr-White’s claims turn out to be true and Apple actually unveils a black Apple Pencil, maybe we’re not so far off from getting other colourful accessories as well. I’m hoping for space gray AirPods. They’re going to be absolutely rad!
