Ranging from staff diversity to its impact on the planet, Apple has a variety of annual reports. The company’s latest annual ‘Supplier Responsibility Report’ focuses on how Apple and its supplier fared throughout 2018. We still remember when last year the tech giant announced that all its retail store, service centres, and corporate offices run on 100% clean energy.

The milestone included 43 countries. And that was the time when all its suppliers pledged to powder their Apple production with 100% clean energy.

With regards to their performance, Apple states there was a general boost in the number of high-performance suppliers that are on its list. Also, there was a significant drop in the core violation of guidelines over the course of last year.

According to the report, Apple reached 76% of high-performance suppliers and has only 1% of low-performers on its list. The company boasts that it has reached 100% when it comes to third-party audits. These audits involve various companies with smelting and refining cobalt, gold, tungsten, tantalum, and tin.

As a result, in 2018, the Apple suppliers earned UL Zero Waste Certificate for all assembly test and packaging facilities. This was across their products iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and HomePod. Under this good deed, the suppliers were able to conserve 7.6 billion gallons of freshwater. This was because all of the Apple final assembly sites adopted safer, cleaner, and greener manufacturing processes. As for the environmental concerns, Apple claimed to drop its greenhouse gas emission by 466,000 metric tons last year.
