Yep, you read that right! And yep, this is authentic news; 100% authentic news! We have proof.
Apple is the sort of company that cares a lot about how it projects itself. It’s not necessarily vain, but you could argue that they’re definitely self-obsessed.
In the latest, we’ve heard that Apple recently spaced out the letters on Apple’s OS X page.
Why?
To increase the distance between the “c” and “l” in “click”, so that it looked a little less like “dick”!!
Otherwise, their catchphrase — There’s more to love with every click — would mean something totally different. (And largely offensive, depending on your level of intolerance)
A Twitter user with the name of Dan Leech (@bathtype) first found it out and enlightened the world via a tweet.
This GIF shows exactly how the words have been affected before and after the space change.
For the more technically gifted among you, we also have screenshot of the source code of the newly spaced text. “Apple used a ‘span’ HTML tag around the world ‘click,’ adding some extra space between the letters” explained Dan Leech — probably to make sure it doesn’t look like the word ‘dick’.
Now Apple is famous for being obsessed with every small detail. But how much obsession is too much obsession? We’ll leave you be the judge of that.
