Apple always likes to keep a tight lid on all its latest developments, but this time that lid seems to have been let loose a little bit. And out comes news of Apple Car, which many of us thought was dead!!
Apple is developing a self-driving car program.
“Details of Apple’s self-driving car program have been revealed by documents filed with the California DMV that shed light on the “Apple Automated System” currently under development,” reports CultOfMac.
Here’s a screenshot of the leaked document that details what happens when a “sudden steering input” is provided to a self-driving car.
The documents first surfaced on Business Insider, and they detail various autonomous driving scenarios, ranging from how a driver will be able to overtake the control from the system to all the possible training modules required to pass the “Driving Expert” test.
These tests include: “low-speed driving, high-speed driving, tight U-turn, sudden steering input, sudden acceleration, sudden braking and conflicting turn signal and action.”
Apple may be working with Logitech.
The report further goes to say that “Apple’s self-driving car uses a Logitech wheel and pedals to actuate drive by wire, and it supports one person at a time.” This is the first time we are hearing of this linkage between Apple and Logitech.
We are not sure if Apple has signed up a deal with Logitech exclusively or if this is just one of the many prototypes. There is also no news about any particular car company Apple is working with.
Like we said, most of us believed that Apple Car was dead, and this leak comes as a revelation to many. And now that this information is out, we are hoping Apple will make an official announcement. We will keep you updated as and when any news comes up. Stay tuned to this space!
