In a bid to further cement their position in India, Phill Schiller is in the country to inaugurate the Apple App Accelerator at Bengaluru. The Accelerator was promised by Tim Cook on his visit to the country last May, and Apple has come true on the promise.
The Apple App Accelerator will provide specialised support for developers to build tools for the iOS platform.
The facility, however, is not just limited to iOS. Developers will find guidance on Swift™, Apple’s powerful and intuitive programming language that caters to watchOS and tvOS as well.
Speaking on the importance of the work that will be done at the Apple App Accelerator, Phill Schiller told Gadgets360 —
“We want to, as the name says, accelerate the quality and the innovation of the apps that are being created here, by bringing some of our unique Apple expertise close to developers who are making their great software.”
Apple has already set up a website to get in touch with the developers and to give an overview of what this brand new Apple App Accelerator is all about.
“Innovative hardware, software, and services work together seamlessly in the Apple ecosystem, giving you the tools to build truly great apps for customers around the world. “
The accelerator might not have the limelight of say, an Apple Store, however, for the health of Apple ecosystem in India, it is a much bigger step. This facility will help home-grown talent develop apps that are specific to us Indians, thereby allowing us to extract more utility from our Apple devices, which are, for now, mostly status symbols.
