How dull were text conversations before the existence of emojis? And how that has changed over the past few years. Now, any conversation devoid of emojis means that the people do not share a close relationship, because who doesn’t at least send a smiley, right? 🙂
But, of course, even with a variety of emojis at our disposal, we still want more. What if we wanted to send someone a flamingo because … well, why not?
The Unicorn Consortium has announced that there will be a whole new bunch of emojis coming our way. To be exact, 230 of them. And that number is not including all the variations. Can you imagine that there are 74 variations of two people holding hands! iPhone users are going to love these new emojis which will be available after this fall’s iOS update.
The idea behind the addition of such a huge number of emojis is that they wanted to be more inclusive. So, the new set includes a wide variety ranging from a flamingo (yes!) to a skunk, a drop of blood, a waffle, and an onion (why?). And, of course, emojis of men and women in wheelchairs, a mechanical arm, blind people, and more are also included.
The details for the update Emoji 12.0 will be finalized in March. It is also possible that these changes could be included in iOS 13 and macOS 10.15, but that isn’t in the immediate future.
